The Greater Longview Organization for Business and Education (GLOBE) is a nationally recognized program, initiated by Eastman Chemical company, to challenge students with more sophisticated courses in public school. It is an opportunity for students to take courses that will enable them to excel as they continue their higher education, and to think critically and effectively as they enter the work force.

Longview is home to LeTourneau University, a non-denominational Christian university recognized nationally and internationally for its quality programs in engineering, aviation, business and science. In addition, Kilgore College, located in nearby Kilgore, but with a second campus in Longview, is an out-standing comprehensive public junior college.
